I spent my first week in London at the YouTube Creator Academy. When I first received the email with the invitation I thought it was spam (mostly because it said THIS IS NOT SPAM at the top of the email). Some of my YouTube friends also received an invite, but couldn't make it. This means that I mostly ended up meeting new YouTubers, but I also had a chance to hang out with people who's videos I'd been watching for a while.
If you haven't heard about it yet, the Creator Space is inside the Google offices and anyone with over 10 000 subscribers can book a spot to shoot a video or work in the editing room, no costs attached. After the Creator Academy week I didn't quite know what to do with myself, because besides taking care of official business and looking for jobs I don't have that much to do (except for maybe trying to make my room look more like my room). I ended up going to the editing suite for a couple of days. Ciaran how taught me how to work with Final Cut X and the studio is always filled with fun people. It's also useful for a person like me, who needs a working environment to get shit done. I'm definitely going to make an effect to try and go there a couple of times a month, even after I find a job.
