An Instagram Tour of Places to Eat in London | May.

I've been planning on doing some blog posts about my favorite places to eat in London for a while. And now that I have an iPhone, it turns out that obsessively Instagramming pictures of food is a great way to keep track of my favorite cafés and restaurants. I'm going to try to post a nice roundup at the end of every month. There might be some doubles, but I'll aim to feature as many different dishes and treats as possible.

RAILROAD
120-122 Morning Lane E9 6LH
Railroad is one of the first places I discovered when I moved to London. I might have even applied for a job there. Not only do they serve their coffee in adorable cups, but the last time I was there they were just taking a gorgeous chocolate cake out of the oven. Yum! I know they also serve food, but I haven't tried anything other than coffee yet. Bonus: lots of men in plaid with beautiful beards.

CRÊPERIE DU MONDE
51 Chatsworth Road E5 0LH
This crêperie is definitely not something you would expect to see on Chatsworth road between all the one pound shops. The people who work there are French, the interior is adorable and the 100% fresh smoothies are served in Mason jars with bendy straws. My favorite part is that you can see the crêpes being made right in front of your eyes. None of that pre-made, heating up business. I can highly recommend anything with cheese and mushrooms (I think I had the 'All Day Breakfast' one).

BAR KINO
177-179 Morning Lane E9 6LH
This bar is fairly new in Hackney. We've been following the progress of the building for months and when we heard they had a free food tasting evening, we didn't hesitate to pop in for the first time. There weren't really any vegetarian tasters, but they offered to make us a beautiful focaccia. A week later they had another evening of celebrations and we hopped over for a free pint. I think I'm going to like this place! Bonus: I love their Twitter and Facebook updates, where they kept track of the building process.

BALTHAZAR
4-6 Russell Street WC2B 5HZ
This bakery is located in Covent Garden, which makes it the perfect place to grab a quick baguette or pastry. Everything looks super tasty, ranging from chocolate kugelhopfs (like a brownie, but better) to healthy salads. Do keep in mind that it is a bakery and they don't have any seating, but with Covent Garden 100 meters away, finding a place to sit down shouldn't be a problem.

JAMIE'S ITALIAN
11 Upper St Martin's Lane WC2H 9FB
I only have one thing to say about this restaurant: Honeycomb Canneloni with aubergine & sun-dried tomato, pumpkin, ricotta & spinach. Yup. (Don't tell anyone, but I might also have ordered honeycomb ice cream for dessert).

THE LIVING ROOM
Unit 1, Tower Bridge House, St Katherine Docks E1W 1AA
A three minute walk from Tower Bridge and right next to the St Katherine Docks. It's a bit more expensive, but a great place to take parents for a nice dinner. The service was excellent and there even was live piano music. The gnocchi was amazing and I tried Eton Mess for the first time!

THE BOROUGH BARISTA
60 Seymour St W1H 7JN
I found this coffee shop thanks to Foursquare. My mother and I were looking for a cute place to have lunch near Marble Arch and Foursquare told me that The Borough Barista was similar to Railroad. I had a (warm!) brie and cranberry sandwich and a very pretty cappuccino.

NORDIC BAKERY
48 Dorset St W1U 7NE (and 2 other locations)
I don't even know where to start with this one! The design seems to be a big part of the appeal of this café (and the waitresses wear adorable denim aprons). They have a website with glorious food pictures and their speciality is a Swedish cinnamon bun, which can serve as an entire meal. It's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I've visited quite a few times since that first day, so you'll get to see more of their food next month.

LA FROMAGERIE
2-6 Moxon St W1U 4EW
Marion and I are crazy about cheese, so we went into La Fromagerie and ordered a British & Irish cheese plate. One of the cheeses was a bit too spicy for us and we could have used some extra crackers, but in general our lunch was quite a treat. They also seemed to have some interesting quiches and sandwiches, so we'll definitely have go back to sample their other options.

Have you ever visited any of these places? Let me know if you have any suggestions for places I should go to!
