Marion posted her pictures of Paleis Het Loo today and since this draft has been hiding in the dungeons of my blog for weeks now, I figured today might be a good day to release it into the world.
I'm not gonna lie, I had to dive into Wikipedia to read up on this palace. Yes, we did go on a little walk tour when we there. I guess we paid a lot of attention visually, but didn't soak up a lot of other information. By the way, even Wikipedia didn't have a lot of relevant information, so let's just say that this used to be the summer residence of the Dutch royal family. CULTURE.
It was incredibly hot on the day we were visiting, which meant that we spent most of our time outside scurrying from tree to tree, making use of every bit of shade we could find. It was amazing to see peacocks roaming around the gardens and I was able to get really close to take some pictures. I also shared a precious moment with some beautiful fish, but more about that in a next post.
Don't you think these gardens look very French? I definitely felt a bit like Marie Antionette (a very sweaty Marie Antionette) while strolling through the gardens. And, because it was a Wednesday, we were allowed to go out on the rooftop and enjoy the view. It might be a bit of a journey from Amsterdam, but it's definitely worth a visit (as any Dutch married couple over the age of 50 will be able to tell you. I'm fairly certains my parents went here on a day trip together. And so did my grandparents.)

I love reading you, you're so cute and hilarious. Also love your shoes. And also kind of wish I had Marie Antoinette's wardrobe.

Hoi Sanne, het ontwerp voor Paleis Het Loo was gedeeltelijk geïnspireerd door Versailles. Je ziet het vooral terug aan de symmetrische tuinen en de mythologische thematiek in de beeldhouw- en schilderkunst.
Hey! I was just at Maions blog and read about this aswell :p Where is this?! I recently just moved to Holland to my boyfriend and I am looking for pretty places to take some pictures! I love the pictures you took there.
